With over 20 years of experience in digital media, including helping to launch three startups, I have a proven track record of leading content and product teams for newsrooms and media organizations, such as Reuters, Circa, the Wall Street Journal, and Pensions & Investments.
I am currently the Vice President of Newsletters and Programming at Pluralsight.
Throughout my career, I’ve launched and grown digital products, platforms, and newsletters, using data-informed decision-making and user experience insights. One of the highlights of my career was working as the digital production manager for The Daily Show, where I helped build a digital department and won an Emmy Award for our innovative work. My core competencies include new media, content creation, and editorial strategy.
In my previous role, as Head of Product and Content at ON_Discourse, I helped launch a new private membership community of business leaders participating in the Discipline of Discourse to cultivate perspectives, decision-making, and meaningful relationships. I spearheaded the launch of our website, worked closely with the editorial team to produce engaging experiences, led our audience team to deliver new leads, launched our expert network, and helped produce a new enterprise product for Fortune 50 companies. I also led the production of two podcasts: Playing Business and The ON_Discourse podcast.
During my five years at The Daily Show, I helped build a digital department that won numerous awards, including an Emmy and nominations in 2018 and 2019. I also helped produce the New York Times bestselling book “The Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library” and installations of the library across America, which won a Cannes Lions Grand Prix and a Clio award.
At The Wall Street Journal, I served on a strategic newsroom team championing data-informed initiatives to guide WSJ’s coverage, deepen audience engagement, and drive digital growth. I developed pivotal strategy reports, including co-authoring a 209-page roadmap that paved the way for doubling our flat lined subscription base. I relaunched our flagship newsletter and introduced ‘news you can use’ content for jobseekers. I oversaw bureau strategies across the newsroom using advanced analytics, fueling subscription expansion and innovation. I took part in special projects such as the Elizabeth Holmes trial, Presidential elections, the anniversary of 9/11, our emerging housing market rankings, and many other high profile coverage moments.
Earlier in my career, I was the editor-in-chief of mobile news start-up Circa and an adjunct journalism professor at New York University. I shared the “Journalist of the Year” award from El Mundo with Jennifer Preston in Madrid in 2013 for my pioneering work in using social media for journalism and was awarded “Best Innovation in Storytelling” by Reuters in 2011.
I’ve been featured by AdWeek, New York Magazine and Details. The New York Times called me “The undisputed King of Tumblr.” I began my career as the social media editor for Reuters, where I co-authored The Verification Handbook, a groundbreaking resource for journalists and aid providers. In addition to serving as Social Media Editor at Reuters, I hosted “Tech Tonic” and was a Reuters columnist.
I’ve been recognized by various publications and individuals, including TIME magazine, Details, Mashable, and being named one of the top 20 people to follow on Twitter by NBC New York, having one of Tumblr founder David Karp’s favorite blogs, being cited by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, and being named one of the most viral people on the Internet by Gizmodo.
